I fished the Elk river on Friday,it was in perfect
condition.I used my "Wassie" tactics and put on a
clinic.I hooked 14 and landed 13.The only pressure on the river were the other three boat's
from the lodge.On saturday we went 8 for 9,we went
4 for 5 on the elk and 5 for 5 on the sixes.As we
did a half day on each.It was a great trip glad I
made the seven and a half hour drive.Good luck,

The entire state of Oregon is now a zipperlip. Please do not mention our existance again, or we will have to flash the penlight at ya again that makes you remember nothing.

All I want to know is.....did you get any big fish? I fished the Elk in January and did ok. We pretty much had the river to ourselves. Between the the few steelhead and a couple late chinook we had a good time.

I caught my first steelhead out of the Sixes 20 years ago. Thats a cool little river.

The biggest went 15lbs.Most the fish were runnin
8-12lbs.Some nice chromers but was a mixed bag.A few of the darker fish had a lot of fight in them.
They all were real aggressive.Good luck,

Were these nates or hatchery fish? I think the Whole Oregon coast is fishing well for nates right now.

I lived in North Bend/Coos Bay for 12 years, and the Elk was one of my mainstays - caught my first 20 pounder there Sure do miss those rivers, especially given the netted out conditions of our OP streams
